Using the TCP Monitoring Model

Objective

Show how to use the TCP monitoring model.

Target audience

OpMon’s administrators and users that want use the TCP monitoring model.

Requirements

  • OpMon 7.0 or higher.

Using the TCP Monitoring Model

Select option “Add new host” to get started. This option can be accessed by the host or services list.

You will be able to see a screen similar to the one shown below where you can see all models categories, click on “Protocols”.

Then, on “TCP” model area, click on “Use this model”:

Select the host that you want to monitor, if the host has not were discovered yet, click on “Add a new host manually”:

Then, enter the element identification data, your IP, name and description:

It’s already possible to visualize the host added, keep the element selected and click on “Next”.

Then you will see a screen similar to shown below, where you will must select the protocol version that you want to monitor.

Note that after select the protocol that you want to monitor, you will be able click on “Next” to advance.

Here you will must insert the port that you want to monitor, as well as the alerts  thresholds, after this, just click on “Next”:

Once the parameters and alerts thresholdsof service were defined, simply advance to the review area from the items included. Note that it is possible to expand the revision area of hosts and services, just click on “+” , according example shown below:

Note that you will can make changes if necessary. Once you have made the settings just click on “Finish” to complete the application process of the model:

Ready! the elements were successfully included in the monitoring.
